Received one time PIN

Go to solution

I have just received a one tome use PIN from BT which is valid for 30 minutes - it says it is to verify they are speaking to the right person, but I have no idea what it is for and was not in contact for anything. Should I be worried about security?? Came from btcomms@info.bt.com

If you did not request it then it is a scam or, at best, an error.  DO NOT read it out to anyone that contacts you.  They may well use it to reset the password on your account.

If you were sent a PIN number, it could be a scammer trying to access your account.

If you did not contact BT prior to getting the PIN you may receive a telephone call shortly informing you that it is BT calling and they will inform you they sent a PIN to verify it is BT and request that you recite the PIN to them.

DO NOT do that. If you do it will give them access to your BT account and email account. Just hang up the phone.

See this link for a fuller explanation.
