Scam email asking me to confirm terms and conditions by 24th January 2026? Is it a scam?

Go to solution

I received a mail today, not addressed to me personally, asking to confirm terms and conditions as BT email was going to retire on 24th January 2026 and all data would be lost.

This was from **** which sounds iffy to be honest - says its from Organization:Internet Utilities Europe And Asia Limited (cyberassets.ae)... but also from Manchester, England.

My gut says scam - can anyone confirm for me please?

Of course it's a scam and please delete the email address, it breaches forum rules.

@swift47

A gentle reminder, this forum is equipped with a perfectly useable search function which had you typed in your question, you’ll discover a whole line of threads on BT email scams and indeed, a whole raft of questions that are repeatedly asked on a daily basis.

Going forward, if an email isn’t addressed to you or just looks like some generic threatening gumpf, then trust your instinct and report it as a phishing attempt, delete it and move on.

Obviously it is a scam.

BT do not use the residential email suffix @btinternet email address and they will not ask you to confirm T&Cs  nor would they only give you three days notice of a close of service.

I am sorry if i have offended anyone with this post but yes I did search first and found other scams but not one which was anything like the email I received today.  Surely it is better for me to be sure rather than lose all my data and have my computer and data compromised

As I said, I apologise if this is against rules but I felt it was the best place to come to make sure.  We are not all technically savvy

Thank you for your reply... a little more understanding would have been appreciated as not everyone is as tech savvy as yourself... a little bit of kindness goes a long way

There is nothing wrong with checking if an email is a scam however it is against the forum rules to post email addresses and in particular if they relate to a scam email.

If you want to post a scam email address just substitute the @ for "at" and it will not be a clickable link.

To remove the one you have posted click on the three dots at the right hand side of the message and it will allow you to edit the message.

@swift47

Well I don’t take offence to anything, I just tell it how it is. It’s not personal to you, I’m the same with everyone 👍

Thank you for your polite reply - I appreciate it. I have tried to edit my first post to remove the @ with at but it wont allow me to. Again I apologise for this mistake but being new I was unaware of this rule. Perhaps someone can delete it for me. Once again , thank you, I appreciate the way you replied to me which didnt belittle me. Take care...
