Hi,
We have 2 clients which are being blocked by BT. They are sister brands but with their own dedicated IPs, and part of a larger group but other brands are not affected. This is effecting both their commercial and transactional mail. We sent emails about both cases to the BT Postmaster last Friday but have had no acknowledgement or reply. As transactional emails are being blocked this is an urgent matter for our clients.
The error codes are not useful as they state: 554 Message rejected for policy reasons (2.1.2.3) on 2026/09/29 16:00:22 BST
But there is nothing available about this policy to help us understand what the issue is or how to fix it without help from the Postmaster. Can provide more details via private DM.
@Oteam Apologies if this comes across as obvious, but you are a business? This is the BT Residential forum. The business forum is here:
This is a BT residential customer to customer forum. Your post does not go to BT. The only BT staff are the forum moderators who do not necessarily read all the posts.
All you can do is to keep contacting the BT postmaster until they reply. They do take their time but they will respond.
Hi,
Yes we are sending commercial business mail to BT users. We are not a BT business customer. Previously moderators in this forum have been able to raise attention to urgent issues to the Postmasters when we haven't had a timely reply through the normal Postmaster email address, which is why I have posted here.
Have you confirmed that the two BT customers have not blocked your email address or domain in their blocked senders list on webmail?
EDIT. I may have mis understood your post. Can you clarify if it is just two BT customers or all BT email addreses and who is sending the emails, is it you or another company?
We are the email provider for the commercial brands affected. They are retail brands sending to their customers, in this case BT users. The block means they cannot send any emails, not even critical ones such as receipts, order updates, shipping information etc. As a result they now have many upset customers.
Given there is no information available about the cause of the block or what the brands themselves can do from their side, if anything, to resolve this it is critical we hear back from the Postmasters soon. As mentioned in the past where the BT Postmasters have been slow to respond moderators in this forum have kindly helped by raising this to the Postmasters.
I have notified the moderators of the forum about your problem. Once they have read this they may be able to help. They will advise you by posting on this thread.
Thank you for your assistance.
Hi @Oteam
I've sent you a private message to try and get you some help with this. Could you take a look at your community private message inbox and get back to me please?
Thanks
Chris
