Sending emails from “?Applemail”
I keep getting a notice that messages won’t go because my email address or password is wrong but mails come OK and “settings” don’t seem to require an email address or password . They SMTP whatever that is.

Welcome to the BT Community Forums.
Just to be sure here, are you still active with email on a BT account, or are you using BT Premium / Basic mail after leaving us?
If you log in to BT Webmail directly are you able to send successfully?

Are you presently a BT Broadband customer or are you paying for your email through a BT Premium email account?
If neither of the above your email account may have been downgraded to a BTMail Basic account which can not be used with an email client or email app.
