@btopenworld.com email and EE

Go to solution

Hi everyone,

need a little advice please, my BT broadband contract is up in a couple of weeks and I’m trying to decide whether to  stay with my current BT Full fibre 500 package or move to something equivalent in the EE range. I have 2 questions.

1. Basically if BT is becoming EE is there any point or benefit staying on a BT package. Should I just bite the bullet and switch to EE

2. This is the most import one, if I switch to EE do I loose access to my @btopenworld mailbox? If yes that’s a big problem

many thanks for any thoughts or advice

@RedBaronSkildyBold

1  BT is not changing to EE (recent press release) so you can just renew with BT if that is what you want

2 If you move to EE you will retain your BT email address

See the following Message No.1 from the BT Moderator regarding your email account. This applies to @btopenworld accounts as well as @btinternet.com accounts. The post is over a year old but still accurate.

FYI there has been a change of direction - a major shareholder has pushed the CEO to not kill off the BT brand for residential customers. So it may be sticking around for some time.

You won't use your bt internet address if your move to EE, but my advice is don't do it! There have been too many tales on this forum of BT making a pig's ear of migrations to EE, sometimes leaving customers with no broadband service for several days, or even weeks.
