email addresses

Go to solution

I have two bt email addresses 1 is btopenworld.com & the other btinternet.com.

I know they are linked by bt but I have always used the "openworld" version & never any problems.

The other day there were a lot of "spam" emails sent to quite a few of my contacts both personal & company's.

I went to change the passwords & in my bt there is only the "btinternet" one showing & no sign of the "openworld" address.

I have different passwords for both of these & now don't know what to do

There was also another "btinternet" email listed in my bt that I have never used but with my name incorrect & I deleted that after I realised the spelling mistake was between g & c of my name. Don't know if that is significant in any way ?

the openworld and btinternet addresses are one and the same as far as email is concerned but are not the same if you have used the email addresses to login to websites then they are different and can have different password.

send an email to your btopenworld address will appear in your btinternet email

You can change the password by going to the logon page and clicking on the "forgot log in details" and follow the prompts.

or you can logon to your openworld account and then click on your username at the top right hand side and select "Account Info" then "Change my Password".

You can can also log onto the openworld account by substituting the btopenworld.com suffix with btinternet.com.

the addresses are one and the same as far as BT email is concerned and only time they are different is if you use the btopenworld or the btinternet address to sign into a website then you will have a password for the website for that address.

Re: email addresses

Well I have been able to change the password for "openworld"

I'm not too sure how because I was locked out for "20 mins" by bt after being unable to load bt mail with the home screen being locked.

After restarting the pc I was able to see a normal log in screen with both email addresses & a logo at the bottom for "forgot password".   This only took 3/4 mins  so not sure what the "20 mins" was supposed to mean

I was able to log in then   & after going through the "procedure" I was  able to get a new password
