I used to have a premium email account , i have down graded to a basic email account
i can access my emails but I can no longer manage the account
for example an old phone is still linked to the account for password changing
i dot have a bt id or bt telephone number so the manage option is invalid for me

You must have had a BTID at some point when it was a BT Premium email account and even before that when you were a BT Broadband customer. The email account would have been linked to that.
You most likely had your BTID the same as your email address.
You need the BTID to access MyBT which will allow you to manage the account although the only things you will be able to do with a BTMail Basic account is change the password or delete the account. You will not be able to add any more email accounts or gift any accounts to another person.

You will most likely need to use a web browser rather than an email app in order to access MyBT so that you can manage the email account rather than using the email app or MyBT app which just accesses the email account.
