This number keeps coming up and they say (male - Chris) that they want to come in and help out with the analogue to digital handover. I haven't received anything in the post about this. I said could he send me an email and he said no, I don't have access to sending out emails, as he is part of wholesale programme.
Is this legit?

There really is nothing that you can not do your self when the Digital Phone comes your way. It is just a case of unplugging the phone from the wall socket and plugging it into the rear of the BT hub.
If you do not have a BT hub there are other things that need to be done but BT would contact you about directly if it is required.
If in any doubt regarding the phone call and if they are elusive when you question them and where they are based it is most probably a scam of some sort.
Just block the number.
Thank you very much.
Thank you Tim, it' so very confusing - but I know now.

You're right to be cautious with these sort of calls, and if you're not receiving any order or account details as part of the conversation, that's usually not a good sign.
I'm not familiar with this number, but for absolute certainty I'd recommend giving our team a call.
They'll be able to check at your end if there are any instructions around the switch to Digital Voice, and if needs be advise you further from there.
Just as a reminder too, if you receive any further spam calls, you can report these via our form here:

Thank you so much Peter, I will do that for sure.
Best.
