5C master socket question

Go to solution

Hi I have a 5C connected by green and black.
nothing else is connected to the socket but I have these other cables which look like they are for sockets in the house.
they are not connected to the master. I want to remove them.

Looking for guidance Thanks

It's not unusual for the master socket to have spare wires that are not connected.  You only need one pair connected to the socket and the other pairs are effectively spares in case the first pair fail.  If the black and green pair are connected, you probably also have an orange and white pair spare.

Not sure why you would want to remove them?  Are we talking about the wires coming in from outside?

Yes main cable from outside is connected to the box (green&black)
There are two further cables in the box connected to each other but not to the master socket. I would like to strip them out as they emerge from the floor through a floor board.

If these other cables were for extension sockets but are not connected at the master socket , then they are yours to do with as you please .
