I'm having ongoing issue with my BT Alexa digital phones. They keep failing on a number of issues.
I'm told that it's a software issue. However BT are dragging their feet over replacement phones.
Anyone else having similar problems?
a lot of the problems with the BT supplied digital phones is the cheap rechargeable batteries so have you tried replacing the batteries to see if that helps - there are numerous forum posts about the battery problem
Yes I have had three Alexa phones that have gone faulty each after a just over a year so are out of warranty.
With every phone it is exactly the same fault - i.e. no ringing or keyboard tones. I have multiple time carried out full reset to no avail.
Does anyone know if there are other digital phones(other than BT models) that connect wirelessly direct to the router, ie. not via an adapter and without Alexa and answering machine?
other phone which are DECT capable (not wifi) should connect (pair) to the BT SH2 but you may not get all the functions with separate dect handset
Have you tried changing the batteries that @imjolly suggested or at least tried substituting them with ordinary batteries although of cause you must not place the phone on the charging base whilst trying ordinary alkaline batteries out?
Thank you. Yes tried new re-chargeable and new alkaline batteries on all 3 defective phones.
I have heard that the Alexa phones in particular have given issues which is why they have been withdrawn from sale.
The BT digital voice phones with Alexa were withdrawn by BT because BT has withdrawn the Alexa functionality on the phones not because there were problems with the actual phones
That seems rather like a 'Mandy Rice-Davies' response😄
Like the originator of this thread, I have been told by a BT engineer there was a problem with the Alexa phone and they sent a software(which took 20 minutes to download) to see if that could solve the issue; it didn't.
