BT Voicemail 1571

Hello, with BT being currently upgraded we got BT Voicemail 1571 for free and never having used it before we decided to give it a go.

But we are disappointed. Every time I press save the message or delete the message and end the call by putting the receiver down the interrupted dial tone persists and the green 1571 light on my phone keeps flashing, even though I've already heard the message.

This has been going on for a few weeks. I called BT and they reset 1571 for me and for a few weeks it was fine, I just had to keep pressing button 2 to save the message otherwise the green light still flashes, but unfortunately yesterday the annoyance still persisted.

I called BT today and asked them to switch off 1571 for me.

I wondered if other members on here have had the same problem? The only reliable notification is the text alert which I linked to 1571.

The other day I got a text alert to say someone had left a message but the light wasn't flashing and neither was there the interrupted dial tone despite a message on 1571 being present. When I heard the message and saved it, that green light started flashing! When I deleted the message and the inbox was empty it still continued to flash after the call and the interrupted dial tone persisted.

So disappointingly I had to ask 1571 to be switched off.

Re: BT Voicemail 1571

Hi @ringring1

Welcome to the community.

I'm really sorry to hear you've been having problems with your 1571 service.

You did exactly the right thing by contacting the Technical Support team. They have access to diagnostic tools that can help identify what's causing the issue, and if it can't be resolved there and then, they can raise a fault ticket for further investigation.

I appreciate you've already asked for the service to be switched off, but if you'd be willing to give it another go, the team will do everything they can to get it working properly for you.

Re: BT Voicemail 1571

Hello Chris, thank you for your reply.

I'll think about using it again maybe in the future but for now I've contacted BT and asked them to switch it off.

The BT advisor said it would take anywhere between 24-48 hours to switch off. It's still working at the moment.

I just wondered if it is possible to switch Voicemail 1571 on and off like Voicemail on a mobile phone network where you have special numbers to call?

That would certainly save having to call BT all the time?
