Big 4000 hand set

Have a bt big 4000,

Able to dial number but no dialing tone, unable to receive calls.

The phone did make 1 call. That was to test it but hasn't worked since then.

have you checked that you don't have a message waiting on 1571 answering service?

If your BT Big 4000 can dial numbers but you’re not hearing a dial tone and can’t receive calls, please make sure the base unit is plugged securely into the phone socket.

If you have another phone you can test with, it’s also worth plugging that in to confirm the phone line itself is working.

Hi it works ok with original cable supplied it seems to be the extension cable that's the issue

If the phone works with the original cable but not the extension, it does sound like the extension lead is faulty. Replacing it should sort things for you.

It could be worth checking how long you’ve had the extension cable, as you might still be within the warranty if it wasn’t too long ago.

Yes it seems to be the extension cable as phone works with supplied cable. Just need to get different extension cable.

Hi, Ok this phone is just about to go in bucket!

It now comes up base not connected. Have checked all cables plugs etc but everything is in. Have cut power to re set it but still keep message.

It rings out but you can't answer

Finally got it to work after phoning help line.

Apparently there is a registration on the phone menu this needs to be done for it to conect to base. Not one mention of this on the start up instructions 🙄
