Bill has been incorrectly calculated following the Price Increase March 23?

Go to solution

Following the RPI increase our prices went up on 31st March so on the bill they show the calculations where they have refunded the advance amount and rebilled the new amount and yet we ended up with a total bill of £64.18 which is more than the ongoing monthly charge will be at the new higher rate of £61.19.

It appears they added the difference (£2.99) after the 31st March to the new monthly amount rather than the old monthly amount of £53.49 (£45.99+£7.50)

We have been charged £64.18 for a bill which should be £56.48 if it is properly pro rated form 31st March.

Annoying and I can't be the only one affected!

did you not receive an email from BT about beginning March advising the increase in monthly cost with a breakdown on how this was calculated?  the increase was 14.4%

Perhaps I didn't explain it very well - I understand the price increase but if my previous monthly rate was £53.49 pcm excluding calls and my new monthly rate from 31/3/23 is £61.19pcm excluding calls then you would expect a bill that covers the period 12 March to 12 April to be somewhere in between these two amounts.  Mine was more at £64.18 so they have added the difference of £2.99 for the period 31 March to 12 April to the new monthly rate rather than the old monthly rate.

The bill after any price rise will always be higher than the ongoing monthly cost because of everything being billed in advance. This means that there is an undercharge relating to the period from the price rise to the current bill date which would have been charged in advance at the old rate on your last bill which is added to your current bill .

In your case it would be £61.19-£53.49 x12/31 which is £2.98 or the £2.99 which you have been billed.
