My Caller Display facility has ceased to function; I use a BT4600 telephone. I have raised a fault three times, and three times been told it has been put right, but it still does not work. Has anyone any ideas?
Are you on a normal analogue PSTN line, or are you on BT Digital Voice?
Please check to see if Caller Display is switched on by entering the
code * # 234 #. If it's active you'll get the message Caller identity will
be displayed.
I'm still on analogue PSTN.

I get 'Caller identities will not be displayed'. According to the BT person I communicated with, this meant the facility was there, but no functioning.
What you have been told is incorrect. The error indicates that the software in the exchange has not sent the correct information to the exchange line card, as there is an error.
What you need to do is to login to MyBT and remove caller display. Then wait 24 hours and login again and enable it.
That sends a change of state to the line card, and enables the CLI.
This is actually a very common fault, where the data held in the exchange, does not match up to what is shown on your account. Its due to the age of the exchange, and the complex interaction between it, and your account.
I have already tried to do this, but Caller Display did not appear among the list of facilities that one could manage.
Its under another category, I will try to post a screenshot.
Thank you!
This is what I see.
I already had the Privacy with Caller Offer, so I did not need to add caller display, as it already works. I think that offer is no longer available, as it brings up an error.
The option to add caller display is still shown.
