Cold calling

Hi I have registered my home phone number and mobile number with tps. Unfortunately I still get unsolicited phone calls. I have reminded them that I have registered with tps and asked them to delete my details but still I get cold calls.

I have started to put the phone against the television, music and the radio, which I presume annoys them but I really don’t care anymore.

Is it possible to set the phones up so that the call does not end until I put the phone down as I would really like them to stop calling me and there would be a cost for them. This would rack up their bills and they would not be able to ring anyone else on that line until I decided to finish the call.

Re: Cold calling

@Steve__barlow

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

The TPS is not effective, as cold callers use random phone numbers generated by a computer.

The only way to stop the calls getting through, is to use a phone which uses Call Guardian, like the BT4600.

This only allows selected number to get straight through, all others have to announce themselves first, scammers never do that as they use automatic call software.

The BT4600 phone will block all scam caller and only allow numbers through that are stored in the phone`s directory. Other callers will be asked to announce themselves first, or can be just sent to answerphone.
