Crackling / ringing off

My Mum has stage 4 cancer and she has been fobbed off repeatedly. Her landline is her lifeline. It crackles and it rings once on an incoming call then rings off. Tried a different phone and problem persists. Been going on for months. Engineers useless. Any suggestions please? I'm about to explode. Thanks in advance.

It is definitely a line fault, unfortunately the technicians these days aren't diligent enough to locate the fault. It is probably a corroded joint somewhere.

It could be anywhere between your house and the exchange.
