Dial Tone

Go to solution

Have 2 x Routers and 3 x Phones (one being Ansa phone etc  as main phone used).

Usual method of dialling...pickup handset... press green button with phone logo... handset connects......it has altered itself to giving a dial tone with intermittent dial tone sound instead of one solid tone... all phones connect and receive calls.

Any possible solutions ??

Thanks

Re: Dial Tone

As stated , you have a message left on BT 1571 ( an answering service supplied for free with DV ) , listen to the message and the modulated dialtone that indicates a message has been left , returns to a ‘normal’ dialtone , and obviously in the future should the modulated dialtone return you know another message has been left .

Re: Dial Tone

As others have said some one has left a message on BTs voicemail service 1571 and you will need to listen and clear this for the tone to go back to normal.  Sounds like it is clashing with your own answering machine (Same happened with mine) I called 1571 and went through the settings to change the ring time on it to 10 rings and leaving my answering machine defaulting to 7 which stopped the issue from coming back

@Manatarms84  Hmmm that's strange as I thought and have read that to change the number of rings on 1571 one had to go into the MYBT account and do it from there in the DV section etc.

Re: Dial Tone

You can change the number of rings via MyBT but you can also do it by calling 1571 and following the menu prompts. I found the latter method to be easier. you only get options for Short, Medium or Long number of rings, but long equates to 10 rings which is ample. My own phone answers after 7 rings.
