On Tuesday 28th May whilst rushing to go away for a few days noted that my digital telephone handset asked me to re connect the device to the hub. I thought noting of it and did not know why it had occurred but complied.
Once the phone confirmed pairing I noted that it had failed to retain my call history and worse still all our manually entered contact details. Never had this before. Did not have time to report then.
Why has this happened and is there any way of having them restored?
Andy
Presumably your SH2 had factory reset. Either by its own accord or by BT.
To safeguard against this you need use the backup facility in the phone section of the SH2 to backup your contacts to a PC.

DV Handset / SH2. Saving the DV/SH2 'contacts' & 'conf' goes like this:-
01. Enter the SH2 address, 192.168.1.254, into your browser.
02. The SH2 Home interface should load.
03. Access the partition with the Handset logo & AFN phone details in.
04. Select 'contacts'.
05. Select 'export' to file.
06. Admin Password login appears. (N.B The 'Admin Password' should hold for the 'conf' save.)
07. Enter Admin Password, and follows the prompts, to where you keep stuff. SAVE.
08. Return to the SH2 Home interface.
09. Select 'Advanced Settings', 'System', 'Back up / Restore'.
10. Select 'Back up', "Back up".
11. Follow the prompts, to where you keep your stuff. SAVE.
12. Best practice. Return to the SH2 Home interface. CLOSE BROWSER.
Thank you.
Never had this issue with pre digital and no idea why it has cleared itself or reset.
Did have an engineer visit to check my phone line and speed of service so would have hoped that anything he would do he would have advised re the phone if thats what has deleted my records.
We start again.
Thank you for such a full and thorough response.
I am not a great techy but will try this. Guess I have to get all my contacts re loaded first which is the annoying part.
Hopefully I can sort it soon.
Yep the week before. As we use the landline that infrequently it was only by chance I knocked it and saw the warning message to re connect it to the hub
