Re: Digital Voice Scam

Please don't generalise that everybody will have a poor experience of DV just because you have.

I live in a rural area with FTTC and DV is perfectly fine here for the many of us that have been converted.

Re: Digital Voice Scam

About 2 million BT customers are now on the Digital Voice system.  If you are basing your response and dislike for DV on the numbers of complaints on this forum that would appear to be a miniscule percentage number that have had issues.

Re: Digital Voice Scam

Wholeheartedly agree!

Did they mention in any of your calls about the £3 increase in your contract costs?

Despite it saying clearly on their own website that Digital voice wont change the duration or length of your current contract or increase when your contract comes up for renewal, they have told me I will have to pay £3 more for Digital voice on my new contact!! 30 million + customers at £3 each? £90 million into their coffers!!

I have just had a 50 minute conversation with them to complain about the service not working despite being told it would be working 2 weeks ago, and they promised to rectify it by Friday. Ive just received a text telling me that the router that is coming out to me will cost me £11.99! Despite the fact they sent me one for nothing 2 weeks ago!!

BT are money grabbers pure and simple!!

Re: Digital Voice Scam

I have absolutely no idea where you get your figures from. There is NO difference in price between Digital Voice and Analogue phone service, not does it involve a change in contract.

Any price change you have experienced has absolutely nothing to do with moving to DV.

Re: Digital Voice Scam

Exactly my point,  you have no idea, as you were not on the phone call with me when I was told it!

The £3 increase in charge applies to ALL phone lines, analogue or digital come April, or the renewal of your contract (from the horse's mouth, BT customer service)

No one asked for this, but BT are going to be charging us all (hence £90 million), to pay for it, disguising it as a charge that would have happened anyway!

Re: Digital Voice Scam

You stated that moving to DV invokes a new contract and an increase in price.

That is simply not the case.

Re: Digital Voice Scam

Moving to any new contract is hit with a price increase unless you negotiate. This includes DV.

Re: Digital Voice Scam

These 3.9% plus inflation index value increase was about to be banned and replaced by a known (declared) fixed increase. Well it was before election. Will see if this is happens/ is better.

Re: Digital Voice Scam

"We have had multiple calls cut out recently - presumably due to poor wifi signal - and we are not having these wifi extenders dotted around our house. Another downside to the service. We're fed up with it, not that anyone cares, because we know BT don't."

That cannot be true. Digital Voice does not use your home WiFi. your phone is either plugged into the back of your hub or it is connected by DECT which is nothing to do with your WiFi. So if you've had multiple calls cut out, it must be because your broadband is suffering some kind of fault - and you should report this to BT.
