Digital Voice - phone not working

Full fibre was installed at our house on Monday 6th and although our broadband worked straight away our phone line is dead - there is no dialling tone and we cannot make or receive calls. I was told by the engineer who installed it that Digital Voice can take a few hours to activate but it’s now over 48 hours later and we still cannot use the landline. I spoke to various people at BT about this yesterday, some of whom were more helpful than others but ultimately no one could help me. Various checks were carried out and it was established that the line is working but it seems our phone is not connecting to the hub. Incidentally, it’s a new BT cordless phone which we have had for 6 months. I was told that someone from BT would ring me today but, as expected, I’ve heard nothing. I have noticed that my order page on my account is still showing as “open” so maybe that needs updating but no one at BT is prepared to help me. This is now disconcerting as my elderly husband who has cancer is expecting an important call from his oncologist on Friday (he’s unable to use a mobile) and this will be missed if DV is not fixed . Please can someone help me.

Have you plugged the base station for your cordless phone system, into the green socket on the back of the BT Smart Hub 2? That is the only way your cordless phone will work.

Does the phone symbol show your number or 'Not Configured' ?

Unfortunately that means exactly what it says, Digital Voice hasn't been activated. You will need to get back to BT and insist the problem lies squarely with them.

I went through this with one of the people at BT yesterday. He said it would be rectified within a few hours and he would call me back by 4 pm today if there is still a problem. Needless to say, he hasn’t rung and I am just going to get fobbed  off again if I speak to someone else.
