Re: Digital Voice with different Router

The adapter connects to SH2 using DECT not wifi. You need the SH2 connected to the main connection to get DV as it is the dect base station

The adapter doesn't connect by wifi it connects via DECT, the WPS button is dual function.

Surely the phones connect to the adaptor via DECT and the adaptor connects to the router via wifi?  Otherwise what is the point?  It would mean the SH2 is even more antiquated than I thought when I ditched it.  If I have to configure it as a dumb proxy just to connect the phones then I guess I will - but only for as long as it takes to get a more up to date provider.

This I find very disturbing.  The annoying thing is that when I signed up to use the BT service I made it clear that I could not use their SH2 and then fell for the "Oh it will be fine" line.  I should have known better. Now I have a service where the phones are about to be disconnected.

Does the SH2 *have* to be connected to the ONT or does it just need to connected to the internet?

No, the phones connect to the adapter physically and the adapter connects to the hub via DECT.

The adapter is just a pseudo analogue phone socket.

So the only option is to disable DHCP etc and have it act as a dumb pass-through for the UDM?  I feel a bit nauseous.

It won't be a 'dumb passthrough' it will still be routing and natting. The SH2 doesn't have a bridge mode.

So the old hack to get to the hidden menu that enables bridge mode is no longer available on the SH2?  My day is getting better and better 😞
