The title says it all. Digital voice answers after three rings (it's set to 10 rings). Voicemail messages are not accepted. Phone is a wired phone plugged into a dv adapter which is successfully paired to the router.
Any pointers gratefully received.

have you checked MYBT to make sure DV answering is set to 10 rings and has not defaulted back to 3?. Have you tried connecting phone to hub phone socket instead of the adapter to see if same result
Thank you Kudos for the diagnostic questions.
1. Settings online are still set to 10 rings
2. Plugging into the back of the router via adaptor lead between main wall socket produces the same effect.
3. Plugging into the wall socket without the adaptor lead rings silently 10 times and goes to voicemail. No ringing sound from the phone though.
4. Plugging into the phone socket in the router works perfectly as it should.
5. Plugged into the DV adaptor again. It works perfectly. Seems that the adaptor lead between the router and main socket affects things? Great that the main phone now works. Thank you.
6. The two extension sockets upstairs don't work. Do I need to get DV adaptors for each one?
