Digital voice messaging service

Go to solution

My 97 year old mother has, against her wishes, been switched to digital voice. The system is very poor and she really struggles with having to add the STD codes. Mother is close to total deafness and really struggles to use the phone, however, BT have made it impossible for those without internet connection to easily access their services. For instance: She doesn't want the messaging service bit can't turn it off as she has no internet access. It takes her more than 8 rings to even hear the phone, so she misses calls as her elderly friends won't, or can't use ansafone type services. So, how can mother turn off the digital voice service? Surely she should be able to just dial a number in her phone to cancel it. If not, why not? BT appear to be intent on ignoring their loyal elderly and disabled customers who cannot deal with the internet. What a shambles! On top of this, 150 doesn't work from her house since she had digital voice installed.  BT refuse to let me contact them in order to cancel mothers services, yet, because she's so deaf she cannot talk to them. It's a nightmare!

I am surprised your mother has been moved to DV as phone only customer and in the elderly group who should be the last to move to DV.  Did you mother not received letters from BT and or openreach about the DV switchover and how to opt out until necessary?

is your mother register here  https://www.bt.com/help/here-for-you

if for some reason 150 does not get CS then you can phone 03301234150
