Does the phone with Alexa only "listen" when I push the button?

Go to solution

Hi,

My employer has specified that we shouldn't have any home devices such as a google or alexa nearby while we're working.

I just wanted confirmation that the Advanced Digital Home Phone with Alexa built in is only picking me up when I hit the Alexa button on it (or I will need to move it?)

Many thanks!

Try saying Alexa to wake it up. If it responds, it's listening. FYI if you have an iPhone, Android phone or any Microsoft software such as your work PC with Cortana or Mac with Siri .. They all listen constantly unless you disable the functionality on all your devices.

Thank you for the reply.

It doesn't light up so I think we're good.

Weirdly they didn't specify mobile phones but then I guess we all had them when we were working in the office & it only occurred to someone as a downside to working from home

You should mention mobile phones just to see their reaction and demonstrate how idiotic they're being 🤣

Love to know how they intend to enforce the bizarre ruling.
