Thanks for giving us that information, @Andrew600
You will be able to change that calling plan without renewing your broadband contract. If you're having problems doing it online, our Customer Support team will be able to help you change it, again, without renewing the contract.
Keep us posted on how you get on.
Chris
Nope.
My products consists of broadband and digital voice. The only options under DV are things like call waiting, voicemail etc.
Nothing listed for calling plan. That will be because historically the landline got included as part of the broadband package, not as an item in its own right. No idea why.
I could be wrong, but I think I can see where this is headed. It is part of my broadband package, wrongly, but that’s where it is.
If I attempt to change it, I’m changing my broadband package which equals new contract.
The same thing happened when I was offered Halo3+ for £0. The algorithm didn’t realise the landline was included in the broadband total and it ended up costing me £12 a month until the retired mods sorted it out for me.
I know what everyone is saying is correct and it’s an add on, but my package is a mess and structured incorrectly.
I’ll take a deep breath and try to change it by calling them I think.
you could try billing message now https://www.bt.com/help/contact-bt/account-and-billing/broadband
@Andrew600 Are you looking at the app or the desktop site? You can only access the call plan on the desktop site
Thanks @licquorice
I didn’t realise it was desktop only.
Doesn't really matter though as it’s essentially just a shortcut to the same confusion that starts at the final step.
First it says the battery back up will be provided free of charge. God knows where they get that from.
Secondly, and most important, it strongly suggests that it starts a new contract as in my original post.
I’m not prepared to take that risk and accept the t&cs only to find out the hard way.
