Hello
BT sent me this a few weeks ago and initially it did not make the phone ring. The EE logo flashed after I chose the ringback option on 17070 but when I picked up the handset I then heard the incoming message.
After interposing a broadband filter between ATA and phone, then lo and behold the phone rang, but a few days later (not sure when it 'failed' again) it reverted to silent rings.
Luckily I picked up a new boxed BT3110 DECT with 3 handsets and the base is plugged into the green socket so I now have something that actually rings when someone dials my number. In betwen the BT3110 base and the router is my old BT caller display 30 which also still works and shows the incoming number more clearly.
How do I get a replacement ATA ?. Is there any point in bothering, it is supposed to work, did a for a while (don't know how long) but now it no longer actually rings ?.
Does anyone know if the green router socket outputs more than just pins 2 and 5 ?. The OR droid who took apart my internal extensions and re-did them exactly as they were before (!!) made up a fly lead which only connects pins 2 and 5 between the green socket and my internal extensions. If I obtain a 4-wire male to male extension then this would connect pin 3 as well, but I thought this pin was no longer needed for modern phones, but what about 40-YOBT phones like the BT Relate 80 and 100 ?.

did you try the new Bt 3110 connected to the adapter to see if that works/rings and problem not with the adapter?
do you have FTTC or FTTP as it makes a difference when trying to activate your existing extensions
Well amazingly, my ancient BT relate 80 phone, connected to the ATA now seems to ring again when I call my own number from my mobile.
This is wierd, it definitely did not ring that last time I tested it a few weeks ago.
Does anyone know how many internal extension phones the BT SH2 will support ?, BT seem to say that you can only plug one phone into the green socket but I have seen many posts where people plug 2-way adapters into the green socket or connect it to their existing internal extensions (after removing wires and/or caps from the original BT master socket) and they all seem to say that this works fine.
I just tried plugging my BT3110 base into the ATA with my BT caller ID 30 box in between and, yes the handset does ring but the Caller ID 30 says "Invalid", something I had previously noted. When the Caller Display 30 is the first device plugged inthe SH2 green socket then it does show the incoming number so that is how it will have to stay.
I conclude that the EE ATA does not handle caller id properly (or maybe it just doesn't like older devices)
I will reconnect my internal extension wiring soon, this time daisy chaining pin3 throughout and using a 4-wire male to male fly lead to connect the green socket to the extension wiring and see what happens.
The screens on the BT3110 handsets are backlit but my eyesight is not perfect and the numbers are difficult to read, whereas the Caller id 30 unit has much bigger characters that are easily readable even though they are not backlit.
you may find this helpful if you are going to use your existing extension sockets and have FTTC
