Engineer Visit

Go to solution

Hello,

My elderly parents have an engineer booked to install full fibre 20th May. They do not understand broadband, full fibre etc. soI would like to be there for the visit but, unfortunately, live more than 200 miles from them. I will however be visiting them this weekend until Wednesday next week.

Via MyBT, I cannot arrange an earlier visit than the one they already have booked in and I suspect that if I ring BT the adviser may only have access to the same dates as me. Is there any way I can contact Openreach who carry out this work to see if there is any possibility of a sooner date. Or even to call me IF they have a cancellation or spare time.

My parents already have a phone line so I have been told it should be less than an hour's work to change the cable.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

You normally get an email or a text from Openreach confirming the Engineers visit and contained within that email is a link to change the appointment

Thanks for you reply. Yes I've got a text with that link inviting me to text CHANGE to change appointment. My only concern is that I may lose the slot I already have and, if next week is not possible, my next date will be further out than the original. My parents' new reduced price contract will not kick in until the full fibre has been installed.

Unfortunately that is the only route you can take.

If I remember correctly there is an option to take a cancellation if one becomes available. When making a change it does not come into effect until you confirm/send that is what you want to do.

I replied CHANGE. The text back says "earlier appointments are not available" so I guess I'll have to stick with what I've got. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Mind you, if I see an Openreach van up the road when I'm there......it can't do any harm to ask!!
