Land line not working

Went to use my landline to order my prescription and got the dead tone
Spent the last one and a half hours looking for a way to contact BT to get someone out to look at it,
I do not have a mobile (I can hear lots of gasps of horror at that)
I'm disabled, my life line is the phone
Can someone tell me how to get in touch with BT?

Hi @sultrty_vixon 

Welcome to the community.

Do you have any voicemail messages that you haven't listened to? The tone when you pick up the receiver is to indicate that you have a message to listen to.

If you dial 1571, can you listen to the message? That should clear the tone.

Hi, sorry about the delay
after 3 hours it seems that the cause is a work order for full fibre that I had done in December, which was never closed, the company can only be reached by phone.. which I do not have, I will borrow next door neighbours phone to phone them tomorrow
