My elderly mum received a letter telling her about the change over from landline to digital voice - something she didn't really want, but accepted that as long as she didn't have to do anything, and nothing changed with her bill, number etc. then shes be okay.
#She's still waiting to be contacted with regards to it being changed - new devise? new phone? She doesn't really understand whats happening. She has no broadband, but uses the phone to keep in contact. She also uses it with her safeguard - a button she wears all the time in case of a fall, issues etc, which she needs a phoneline for it to work. And she has used twice this year.
But with no warning, her phone line is off/making the continually busy sound when trying to either receive a call or call out. She cant use her safe guard, and lives on her own. I (her daughter) live away and don't drive, so rely on phones to check in and keep in touch.
She was told by BT that they are aware that she's a priority, and wont be left without warning, so what's happening, when's it going to be fixed when will she be able to use the landline or safeguard again?
She's feeling very vulnerable, which i'm sure a lot of people are. More information is needed, especially to those who don't have the internet to just "go online and check"!
There is obviously a chance that this is unrelated to the letter about converting to DV , and it’s just a coincidence that a fault has developed, lines can go faulty, it could even be her own equipment or the safeguard equipment that is putting a fault on the line .
Anyone with a phone only service (so no paid for broadband ) will eventually be moved to DV but those deemed vulnerable won’t simply be moved without ‘help’ …you don’t state what the letter she received said , obviously without knowing that , any responses on here are simply speculative.
If her phone isn’t working , report a fault .
