Oh, I’m so going to miss threads like this when I move next week…

Anyway, just for the record, I was moved to DV two years ago.  I run a Panasonic quad cordless system…through the old extension, disconnected from the master socket and connected to the Smart Hub 2…it works perfectly.  So, it can be done.

A lot of the guys on here are retired Telecoms, so they can judge better than me.  I suspect you have a short in your extensions somewhere and, as extensions are the customer's responsibility, the EE tech won't touch them.  He'll just fob you off with an excuse to get out of there.   A thought does occur though, are the extensions connected to the Smart Hub and the master socket at the same time?  I can see that causing problems sooner or later.

What I will add is that most of the “guides” on the phone are not and never have been field operatives and their technical knowledge is abysmal.  They’re more sales people today.  As a retired IT tech, I find talking to them on the phone even more entertaining than threads like this.

Glad I'm providing amusement if not enlightenment. Only the cordless phone is plugged into the Smart Hub as I keep telling everyone.

From message 10
We tried ringing ourselves and it rang on the extension, but on replacing the phone and lifting up receiver we're now engaged

Sorry, not entertainment as such, just a bit more intellectually stimulating than the forum for the ISP I’m moving to.  Anyway, you might find this interesting…

Is this the Final Solution? Currently the wire that feeds the two extensions goes into the master socket. I intend taking this out, crimping on a BT 431A plug then inserting into the back of the router green socket via a twin splitter together with a cordless phone that's above the router. Everyone happy, ecstatic even?
