When my elderly parents converted to Digital phone over existing DSL broadband BT installed a Motorola FW 500 backup phone and told them to use this phone in an a emergency only.
I have read this phone can be used when the power is on and you should get 2 dials tones, one when the power is on ( phone over BB) and different dial tone if the power is off indicating the calls are now going over the SIM.
Currently I don't get dial tone when the power is on. Anyone have one of these?
Thx
Scouser
Update, when I say "power is off or on" its probably more correct to say BB is on or off.
Hi @99scouser
Do you have a SIM card inserted in the telephone?
You can visit EMERGENCY BACK-UP LINE TELELPHONE MODEL: FW500 Manual on how to check this.

Yes, BT installed the phone and sim last week when they cut over to digital phone service.
@99scouser
Although there is no dial tone, are you able to make an outgoing call or does it ring with incoming calls?
Ali
Hi ALi, no, no incoming calls and no dial tone. The screen is lit up though.

Please check all cables are correctly connected between the phone and router.
