Moving home

Go to solution

Hi, just a quick question please. My dad is shortly moving home and the bungalow has never previously had a telephone line. I have spoken to someone in your team and they say that it doesn’t cost him to have a line put in as he is an existing customer and will remain with Bt for his phone and broadband once he has moved. Firstly could you confirm this is correct? Secondly, will he be able to take his existing telephone number with him as he is basically moving within approx 5/6 miles from his current address? Many thanks in advance.

If you go to this link they will help. https://www.bt.com/manage/moving-home.

It may be the new address cannot get the old style phone PSTN and may be fibre connection only and also digital voice.  The moving home people will be able to advise you

Re: Moving home

Keeping existing number is not directly related to distance moved, it is whether you remain in the same exchange area.

You could move 100 yards and cross the boundary or move 10 miles and not cross, depends on your locations.
