Only wanted to stop 700 min landline, 5 hrs later!

Decided we didn’t used  the 700 mins landline and thought naively it would be a doddle to  cancel.

cut a long story short, and  after 3 agents with different versions and ideas, think I’ve cracked it.

it’s like nailing jelly to a wall!

getting a call back tomorrow with thrashed out deal.

Apparently you can’t separate broadband package and landline deal although you do get billed separately?

So after being told to ignore the 2 apparent offers e-mailed to me, which were was garbled rubbish, think by tomorrow might be in with a chance of sorting this.

bit like swings and roundabouts, lose landline but had to take out a new 24 month contract  4 months early, given Netflix for 3p extra on entertainment package, but of course don’t forget 31st March increase of Broadband and Entertainment package anyway.

Brilliant way to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening and can’t wait until tomorrow.

used to quite look forward to some gentle haggling when contract was up with BT, now EE are in the mix it’s a nightmare to try and wade through everything.

Final insult was that I was told and have written proof I was contracted to Halo 3 on my last contract but  apparently according to agent today I wasn’t?

Off for a large whisky and rubbish tv to calm down and wind my neck in.

You should be able to remove the 700 minutes add on call package and go to PAYG without actually changing or starting  a new contract.  However if you want to terminate your ability to make/receive calls on home phone then that does require you to start a new contract

You should be able to change call package yourself by going to MYBT

I was given the choice of receiving calls only for £5 per month, then another offer by different agent of £3 per month. 
After deciding against that as  we both have mobiles and have only 43 minutes of actual call minutes in a month to our home phone it made sense to cancel .

I’m not surprised people just give in and accept what is offered, but it’s quite scary to get so many different versions from different people who, in all honesty seem to want give you an answer.

Onwards and upwards, what else is there to do on a Sunday except knuckle down and sort out a deal!  At least it’s only every 2 years!

PAYG is normally £5pm or if you negotiate down to £3  and in some cases actually free  like many you decided to cancel ability to make/receive calls on home phone and just use free mInutes on your mobile. That does require a new broadband only contract

I've tried several times to cancel my 700 mins but BT refuses to cancel unless I take out a new contract.  I don't use the landline anymore, my phones won't work with digital voice as they're in different rooms from the hub but I'm stuck with paying for minutes I don't use which cost more than my whole mobile package.

As above, you can move to PAYG for a nominal monthly fee. You should be able to do that in MyBT.

Or you can adapt your phone cabling to patch it into the SH2.

if @Cassie and @sandy88  are currently on a broadband and phone contract then ending the 700min add on should not incur any additional costs but just revert them to PAYG

I don't agree as there is already a broadband and phone contract existing and then with addon of 700min so reverting to PAYG should not incur a charge unlike starting a new broadband and phone contract there is a fee for PAYG

we will just have to agree to disagree
