Re: Phone wont work
The hub does provide a supply, the same as the analogue connection. Assuming of course that the phone is plugged into the phone socket on the back.
https://bt-digital-voice.blogspot.com/p/bt-smart-hub-2.html
" In effect, the Hub's phone socket appears to replicate the output parameters of a master socket, except that the DC voltage on Terminal 2 (B-Wire) is +47.9V with respect to Terminal 5 (A-Wire). This is slightly lower and in reverse polarity compared with the 50V encountered on a PSTN line. "
If a phone does not work, its more likely to be a cord connection error.

Re: Phone wont work
No, it doesn't need power (unless it is a DECT base station) the hub powers a normal analogue phone from the green socket.

Re: Phone wont work
I think that those phones that worked from the BT sockets DC supply will work when plugged into the green socket on the SH2. Why not try one of the DV adapters that can be bought from the BT/EE shop or one used to be able to claim one free one from BT? These are paired with the SH2, whilst powered from the mains and then can be plugged in anywhere and then the phone is plugged into that. This communicates with the SH2 using DECT technology.
