Renewal of Contract !

Hi there.

My contract is coming up for renewal, it comes with an interesting set of circumstances.

I have FTTC F2, I'm prohibited from BT FTTP; because my estate has done a deal with another fibre provider.
Adding to the misery. The EE Mobile Signal is absolute rubbish, where I live.

So, the 'BT Renewal Contract Price' isn't VFM.
What would be a sweetener would be to sign-up to the 'New Customer Price' for F2; bearing in mind that a DV 'Call Package' adds to the all-up price.

Who can I contact @ BT, to negotiate 'MY DEAL PRICE' ?

Re: Renewal of Contract !

@COMPANY-PENSIONER  Well, if you’re determined to stay with BT, then do what I wouldn’t do (out of sheer petulance according to another contributor on this forum 🙄) and call BT retentions team. I’m sure they’ll cobble something together for you.

Re: Renewal of Contract !

How far away from your minimum term expiry date are you ? , in my case the renewal offers gradually improved the closer it was to the expiration date , to the point where the renewal offer was pretty much the same as the new customer price …perhaps you can post what products you have as well as Fibre 2 , what you currently pay and what the current renewal price is ….in my case the renewal undid the previous 2 years annual increases (which were £3 each ) so I was back to where I originally started , although since then there has been an annual increase , but most providers built an annual price increase into their prices.
As stated on other posts , you could simply change provider, or explore what a retention deal looks like

Re: Renewal of Contract !

@COMPANY-PENSIONER  You see, I have exactly the opposite experience of what @iniltous @states in terms of a gradual improvement in better pricing the nearer my contract comes to an end. Indeed on the MyBT App there effectively was no offer, almost zero incentive on the pricing to renew. It came no where near to what a new customer would be paying, so I’m genuinely intrigued as to how some customers get these amazing deals by literally doing nothing.

Now I’m not someone who is sold or beholden to BT. I’m not an ex BT employee with a pension wrapped up in the company, nor am I a shareholder in BT, so quite frankly, there’s absolutely no loyalty or other reasoning to stick with BT through and through. I also don’t have a landline and I’m on FTTP into a recent new build property, so I have zero problems with infrastructure. In effect, especially with the advent of One Touch Switching, it’s just as easy for me personally, to switch every couple of years. That way, I get brand new customer pricing and the ridiculous £4 a year increase effectively resets itself so that I’m still only paying the same monthly amount at this point in my contract as I was paying roughly 8 years ago. In the last 10 years, I’ve just flip-flopped between BT and Plusnet but at the end of my current contract, it’s highly likely I’ll flip to EE. Exactly the same company, just as things stand, cheaper.

At the end of the day, only you can decide what’s best for you, just weigh up the options. Be careful however about your interactions with call centre staff, they’re there to sell a product, not necessarily sell something that’s right for your circumstances.

Re: Renewal of Contract !

Hi @iniltous.

When I log onto MyBT from the BT Home Page, I'm directed straight the MYDEALS.
The RENEW what you have currently OFFER, doesn't include a CALL PACKAGE, unless it's offered as the RENEWAL PAGES increment forward. When I interrogate the MyDeals; I subsequently get an email, 'YOU'RE ALMOST THERE', every time. Puts a smile on my face, as to Privacy issues; but, it's probably covered by T&Cs.
The ' PARTY FULL FIBRE PROVIDER' offers 300mbs at ½My F2 BT Renewal Price; alas, no DV.
As the EE Signal is rubbish where I live, there's no sane reason to have a BT Broadband/DV/BT Mobile mashup.

That's why I'm considering a UNIQUE DEAL to me from BT ? Could just be 'pie-in-the-sky' daydreaming ? If I don't give it a punt, I'll never know ?

HI @Kimberlin.

I don't chop-n-change every 5-minutes; I just don't see the point; unless your finances are problematic: 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'

Re: Renewal of Contract !

@COMPANY-PENSIONER  See, you just made a huge sweeping statement there about finances. Finances I can assure you have absolutely nothing to do with my own situation for example. What I won't tolerate, is being charged more for anything than I have to.

It seems that there are some people, and you may well fall into that category, that maybe like myself, are by my own admission, reasonably well off, but some of those well off people literally do not care about how much money they pay for stuff, which quite frankly, is in my own opinion, ludicrous. You've only got to read plenty of the posts on this forum to discover that there are customers out there who through absolute apathy, are paying possibly 3 or 4 times more than a new customer is paying then they have the absolute gall to come onto the forum and complain about it in public.

My broadband service is in no way 'problematic' and thankfully customers have the choice to chop-n-change at the end of contracts if they so wish. Absolutely nothing to do with 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'.

Re: Renewal of Contract !

HI @Kimberlin.

I love 'Personal Attacks' on my 'Life Choices'. Why ? Because, you've taken the time to analyse and respond to my posts: where, you could just ignore me and post nothing. It indicates that people out there are interested in what I've to say. I thank you for your valuable time and will totally ignore your posts. THANKS, AGAIN !

Re: Renewal of Contract !

It’s relatively easy to beat BT on price , even the new customer price , either on Openreach or with an Alt Net , TBH , BT even have a ‘budget’ brand  for those that want the best value , personally one of the reasons I renew with BT , even if it’s a little more expensive than some is keeping the email address I’ve had for decades and partly it’s the ‘better the devil you know’ mindset  , there would be a price point at which even with the hassle of managing email without a client I’d change but while it’s a relatively modest sum I’m fine with that .

Using an Alt Net may save even more , and TBH for some the loss leading , unsustainable pricing on offer which can’t possibly last is not a concern , ‘make hay while the sun shines’  and take advantage of that price while it’s there , that can be difficult to ignore , and I get those that rather than play the retention game simply  chose to take the best alternative on offer rather than suffer the negotiation game , afterall the new customer price is clearly available to a new customer.

As stated without knowing the price being offered to renew and the products being taken it’s impossible to judge if it’s (for BT) a competitive offer , as far as the price offered being broadband and ‘extras’ added subsequently, that’s the way these things work , in my case the retention offer referred to F2 broadband, because it was a renewal the option to remove telephony was open , I chose to keep PAYG at £3 even though I’ve never in years made an outgoing call and incoming calls are rare and even rarer are genuine calls , but similar to the email it’s a relatively small sum to keep a phone number I’ve had for 30+ years

@COMPANY-PENSIONER  Excellent! Well done! You've learnt something from myself! I'm the absolute grand master of the lowest form of wit and I applaud you for it. I've given you a well earned sarcastic Kudo to show my appreciation!

Doesn't surprise me in the least where the other Kudo's have come from 🤣
