Re: Renewal of Contract !

Hi @iniltous

I'm not giving the Crown-Jewels away in offered renewal prices, in my posts.

I've been offered Renew-Full-Fibre-FTTP Prices, that I know, BT know are not available to me; because of the tie-up with another Full-Fibre Provider.
The estate has a little under 100-abodes; that will be unable to have BT FTTP, for the same reason as me. I can only guess that BT will offer FTTP another 99-times, being knocked back every-time for the exact same reason, as me.

I had the same nonsense with Thames Water over the non-installation of a water-meter, that isn't appropriate to my circumstances; that 99 other customers will have to endure; not to have a water-meter fitted.

Re: Renewal of Contract !

@iniltous  I guess this is where we're all different. I for instance have no sentiment for either phone numbers or email addresses. I've changed my mobile number no less than 5 times in the last ten years. It seems to bother other people more than anything else. Same with email addresses, though I have had the same Protonmail address for years now, but, if needs be, I would just swap it out in a heartbeat for another provider. Unlikely though as it's simply the best email provider I've ever used.

So I just have 7 months to go on my existing contract and I'll be switching again. I have no ill will toward BT, I just cannot stand their smoke and mirrors games, the dual branding with EE for starters. It's ridiculous to possibly tout one arm of the brand as 'premium' and another not. Indeed the word 'premium' is overused in many instances, like bank accounts that cost an arm and a leg in fees every year just to get free airport lounge access etc.

From a personal perspective, One Touch Switching was simply the best thing for customers like me, that was introduced from the perspective that I don't even have to speak to anyone.

Re: Renewal of Contract !

@COMPANY-PENSIONER  If you're being offered FTTP by BT it's available, what do you exactly man by tied up to a different provider?

@COMPANY-PENSIONER  You failed to keep to your side of the bargain. I was almost hoping I'd never see you direct another post toward me again, but you do have comedy value, so it's worth it. Clearly I have something useful to say and you cannot bear but to acknowledge me. Well done! 🤣

Re: Renewal of Contract !

HI @garybs29

BT/OPENREACH, missed the boat 'Bulk Fibering' the estate. The Management done a deal with another Fibre-Provider.
When BT make inquiries on their customer's behalf; they're waved away, with the alternative FULL-FIBRE-PROVISION-DEAL.

Re: Renewal of Contract !

I’ll probably regret asking this , but how can Openreach (no such entity as BT Openreach ) miss the boat , unless this estate hasn’t had its roads and footpaths adopted by the local authority, they have access rights under the NRSWA , plus even if the roads are not adopted yet , presumably your current service uses Openreach network and unless upgrading that would require further wayleaves for excavation etc , the current way-leaves  for duct , boxes , poles , cover upgrades, the wayleave doesn’t specify the cable types within or on , so OR don’t need permission to upgrade equipment to FTTP using existing infrastructure.

If you live in a retirement MDU or some like that , then describing it as an estate seems inaccurate, so unless you live on a private road (or series of private roads ) and the existing Openreach cabling is direct in the ground , and permission to provide ducts etc was sought and refused (but granted to an alternative network provider ) that’s unusual, but if that’s the case that’s the kind of area OR generally avoid anyway  , so I very much doubt permission was ever sought for upgrading DIG in a private road  , and they cant  refuse a request that was never made .

I’d guess as you won’t even provide the price you pay for your F2 FTTC , and the renewal price you are hardly likely to offer your address (or even the general area ) so your claims can be tested .

Re: Renewal of Contract !

@iniltous  I suspect you won’t get the answers to your questions, after all, the OP is holding on to the Crown Jewels of retention prices like it’s a State secret. Not sure why anyone would not divulge the personal retention offer price, it certainly wouldn’t bother me, I’d just be straight up front and spit it out.

Re: Renewal of Contract !

FWIW.

The Estate is Managed by Agents for the Freeholder. The Estate has been pre-fibred to all abodes, by the Managing Agents doing a deal with 'Another Licensed Operator', to provide Fibre Services.
When a a prospective BT Customer investigates having BT Fibre Services, they swiftly find out that they can only have the Estate Official Fibre Services; alternatively, BT Copper Services. The Estate Management is not entertaining BT Fibre Services, as they have provided their own Partnered Fibre Services.

As for my personal deals, it's not necessary to list prices, as they are not Value-4-Money.
