Switch to digital voice is not at no cost as advertised
My broadband package is coming up for renewal shortly and I have started to look at my options. Alongside the new package I have to decide on the various Digital Voice options available to me. The first thing that stands out is that the switch to digital voice is certainly not at no cost to me. Yes, a digital voice adaptor is provided free of charge but I will have to pay £3/month for the service or £12/month for unlimited calls. All I pay now is £8.63/month for 700 minutes so BT is not switching me to the new service at no charge as has constantly been promoted.

Re: Switch to digital voice is not at no cost as advertised
It seems the 700mins plan is not offered anymore, if you prefer to stay on your 700mins , don’t renew, simply continue on an out of contract/minimum term basis , on a 30 day notice to quit, however that likely to be more expensive than being inside a minimum term by renewing your ‘contract’ .
You are conflating two things , migration to DV doesn’t change anything apart from the method of delivery of the phone service, it’s not a recontract, but if you are considering recontracting , that is a separate matter …there will be many that are migrated to DV from PSTN keeping the calls plan they have , including 700 mins , new or recontracting customers may not have 700 mins as an option

Re: Switch to digital voice is not at no cost as advertised
the extra charge of £3pm is only if you require the ability to make/receive calls on your home phone and applies whether you have digital voice or old copper phone connection
you now have option of broadband only which many prefer as you can use mobile phone with the normal unlimited minutes of phone calls

Re: Switch to digital voice is not at no cost as advertised
Hi @alacra The cost change is a consequence of renewing your broadband package, nothing to do with Digital Voice. The cost change of renewing would be the same even if you could keep your old analogue system.
