I am moving further into my village, I am on digital but I have been told because it’s not the same exchange I will have to have a different number 🤔

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.
Are you a BT Retail customer?
Yes
I would not expect it to change, as BT Digital Voice is not dependent on a physical exchange appearance, unlike the analogue PSTN service.
Your number is programmed into the BT Smart Hub 2, so in theory, it should not matter what part of the network you are connected to, assuming your number was originally issued by BT Retail.
I would need to ask a moderator to comment on this, as they may know more about this situation, as I am sure it will be asked about in future.
One of them should post here.
As @Keith_Beddoe has said, there is no technical reason that the number needs to change to what would have been a different exchange number scheme, but I believe there is a policy of maintaining geographical numbers in line with exchange areas. Not sure if this is an Ofcom thing or not.
It’s in the same village 1 mile away
Yes, but you said it was a different exchange
That’s what BT said. I thought it would be the same exchange as it’s in the village 🤔
If the area code is the same, then I would not expect it to change.
