Hi,
cut a long story short, my parents had their BT phone line taken over by another supplier via a cold call. The phone line went dead after a few months and they couldn't contact the company - they lost access to their land line number that they have had since year dot!
They are in their nineties and my Mum has dementia and my Dad has COPD so hospital calls etc is vital they have their phone number back. They have a mobile phone which we got them a while ago, but they struggle with the technology and I just want to get their old phone number back.
So question is how do I start with this?
I need to maybe call someone in the venerable person team, if that exists, and do they have a number or email?
Their old landline has been registered with their address and details since it was the GPO, and that is the number I want to get back for them and all setup again. Any help or pointers appreciated.

If the number has been inactive for 28 days, its not possible to recover it.
All new phone services are delivered over a broadband connection, and a new number would be issued.
thanks for the quick reply.
so do you mean inactive from BT services, ie. the other company took it away a long time ago from BT , over a year ago.
Inactive on any network. I.e. not currently a working number.
OK,
understood, a new digital number needed.
Any tips on contacting a venerable person type team, they just need a land line, they don't use, or know what the internet is! Although I understand the BT digital service is via a broadband product.
So an entry level type product needed, but they aren't able to set it up, so I need to get it done for them, but make sure its for them as venerable customers.
