I have a BT box on the wall at the front of my house. It is unsightly with wires going across the front. I have no use for the box as I now use a fibre provider not associated with BT. Can I simply remove the box?
'the box' is the property of openreach and not BT retail. you can ask openreach to remove it but as it is not a hazard to safety then doubt openreach will do anything
Thanks for the response. I can easily remove it, I just don’t know if I’m allowed.
you are not allowed to move it as property of openreach but it is up to you what action you take doubt openreach will notice
Thanks. Might thoughts as well.
Is you house part of a terrace, if it is , does this ‘block’ service other properties on the terrace ? ….a ‘BT box’ is a bit vague , if it’s a block that was only ever used in your own connection, then removing it may not be noticed, if it’s a ‘DP’, Distribution Point , then even if you are unaware of the legality (this can happen with ex local authority houses ) the block remains the property of BT/Openreach and even if you have no need if BT or Openreach services , others may , so removing it could cause you ‘legal’ problems……
