Using a Standard / Residential Line with a Business.

Go to solution

Hi all,

We have a small family business and currently have a BT Business Landline (PSTN) and Broadband. Our contract is coming due for renewal and BT will be moving us to FTTP. While this is fine for Broadband the only voice options they are offering seem complicated and feature rich which we don't need.

Is it possible to change from Business Line to Standard/Residential, still using it in the business, as this would offer Broadband and Digitial Voice which is really all we need.

Look forward to your help.

@Chirpy07

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

No its not permitted to use a residential line for commercial/business usage, it against the T&Cs and you could be disconnected.

You would also lose your phone number as its assigned to BT Business.

The BT Business option called Cloud Voice, is not complicated and offers many advantages. It uses IP phones that can be plugged into any part of your internal Internet LAN.

Its was designed to replace services like FeaturNet, which some business`s used to have extensions in different parts of the business.

You do not have to use any of the extra features, you can just have a basic system with a single IP phone if you wish.

Speak to the BT Business sales people, or post on the BT Business Forum.
