Why did we think it would be a good idea - fibre?

Back in February I bought a new mobile.  I went to the local EE shop and this young man, bless him, transferred all my stuff from the old mobile to the new....no problems.  He could see our BT account and asked why hadn't we upgraded to fibre.  He told me it would be free and we'd get 2 new phones. Being the wrong side of 70 thought new phones good, the ones we had were very unstable in the cradle.  He booked us up for a visit.

I won't bore you with all the calls, frustration letter to the CEO etc. but suffice to say the following:

We had 5 cancelled appointments (by BT), been sent 4 new phones (wanted 2), sent 3 new hubs (needed 1) also 5 return envelopes.

Finally 4th May an engineer came to set it up. All working except the phones. After ringing customer service again yesterday, they say the reason the phones not working as they were cancelled off the order, why did they send us 4 then? Anyway this person did sort that out and they are now working.

Next problem they've snatched out original phone number and given us a new one. Another call and been told to leave till next week when the package is live and they will give it back....I wonder.

My problem now is how to transfer all my contacts from my mobile onto the home phone.  I can't find out how to do this other than doing them individually which will be a right pain.  Any answers please?

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to transfer the numbers. You either have to do them one at a time by entering them on the Digital Phone or do what I did.

Enter one number using the DV phone and then export your contact list. Open the single entry in Notebook, use it as a template and then copy and paste the entry and edit it with the details of the next contact, rinse and repeat. It's not Ideal but quicker than entering them via the DV handset.

Thank for this but I don't know how to export the contacts  to the Essential Digital phone. I read somewhere else it doesn't use wifi so there's no way I can see of copying them onto my phone.

I think you have misunderstood.

There is no way to transfer the contacts from mobile to DV handset or vice versa.

My suggestion is to enter one entry manually on the DV handset, this can then be exported using the option in the BT hub and used as a template in Notepad to make further manual entries. Manually making the entries in Notepad being quicker than entering them manually on the handset.

Oh don't think my brain is big enough for this. 

I've  never used notebook for a start and how do you access the hub.? I've never done anything with the hub other than reset it if I've gone off line.  I think the only option for me is to enter them manually.  Thank you anyway, I'm just not understanding the process. Strangely on my old phone I had no trouble copying the contacts from my mobile to the old phone.

I think I may have misread your first post, I assumed you were trying to transfer the contacts from an existing cordless phone rather than a mobile.

You should be able to export your contacts from your mobile as a .vcf file and email it to yourself. Save the file on your computer and then import it to your hub.

Although you enter the contacts on the handset, they are actually stored on the hub so once you have either imported them or entered them you need to make a backup as they will be lost if the hub is reset.

To access the hub just enter 192.168.1.254 into your browser address bar. Then click on Contacts then Export.

Click on Import to import them to the hub.
