Why does a Blocked Number still ring?

I have a BT4600 Trio.

As Senior Citizens we get fed up being plagued by Scam and Nuisance calls.

We have started Blocking Numbers, but find they still ring if the number calls, it just shows Blocked on the display.

When I Block a number I expect it to be Blocked and not able to ring me.

Have I messed something in the Idiot Guide (User Manual)?

Any pointers, please?

Re: Why does a Blocked Number still ring?

It's because they're spoofing the number and aren't actually calling from the number being displayed on screen

Re: Why does a Blocked Number still ring?

You need to enable Call Guardian, and set it to announce mode. Blocking numbers is a waste of time.

When its in announce mode, any caller who`s number is not in the phone`s directory, will have to say who they are.

Spam calls are generated by a computer, and are only passed to a real person if you answer the call.

Thanks, Nigel, I hadn't thought of that. Makes sense.

Re: Why does a Blocked Number still ring?

All incoming calls still show in the call log, even if they are intercepted by Call Guardian.

Anybody who you may have forgotten to add to the directory, will identify themselves, and then you can add them to your directory, so that next time they call, they will get straight through.

You will find that you get no more spam calls.
