digital voice includes call protect-so does the phone ?

Go to solution

Been switched over to digital voice today, new router and wi-fi plug all fitted so I can keep my phone downstairs and router upstairs, got straight back on internet and later this afternoon got a text to say digital voice now set up (can wait upto midnight for that sometimes) and phone working and better caller sound clearer too. However all incoming calls are going straight to BT Call protect - I have "Announce" set up on the handset, my handset has that option I do not have a newer digital voice handset, I assume call protect came with my BT call package at the time. If I switch call protect off on the phone, then all incoming call correctly come straight through-although the handset does not display the calling name and number even though these are friends/family in my contacts list. After some googling I note Digital Voice comes with inbuilt caller protect - so are we supposed to switch off call protect on the handset ? And how do I get the handset to display my friends/family calling etc ?

Aside the engineer would not set up the EE back up router I guess I am supposed to do that, is that easy ?

thanks all

by call protect do you mean bt answering system so calls go direct to answering machine.  if so you can go to MYBT and change the number of rings before the answering machine cuts in and intercepts call

By the way the adapter you have connects to the SH2 by DECT not wifi - covered many times on forum

apols, my existing phone (or maybe my existing phone package) came with Call Blocking, you can set this to either send all calls to as you say the answer phone OR send them to "Announce" which means you hear the caller first before accepting the call or not.

I had this feature switched on to "Announce" and ALL incoming calls were going to "Announce" which is incorrect as only those numbers NOT in my contacts list should go to "Announce".  As I said above digital voice comes with "Call Protect" built into the background with AI so I guess there was a clash of software taking place. I have now switched off Call Blocking on my existing phone and now all calls are coming correctly straight through an I assume digital voice Call Blocking is now working in the background as well.

The next day after installation ie after midnight when software changes take place after being set up, everything is working fine and my caller display names are now also showing. I cannot say whether either the changes at midnight or me switching off the previous Call Blocking correctly allowed my contacts straight through when calling me.

I only raise this if anyone else has issues with ALL calls being sent to their Voicemail or Announce, if so switch it off on your phone handset.
