landline switch off PSTN

When the switch over to digital lines occurs how should I precede to help my mother  She is 91 years old has macular degeneration so can't use a mobile phone and her landline is a necessity. She does not have or want a broadband connection for intertnet purposes and wouldn't be able to use it. Thanks

You will not need to do anything, her phone line will be converted to a type of line that continues to operate as now. The only difference is that she will have to dial the full STD code as well as the number for what were previously local calls made by just dialling the number.

This has been raised multiple times so a search would have provided the answer , if your relative is a BT phone only customer, the PSTN , the publicly switched telephone network switch off will require a PDPL (pre digital phone line) to be provided in it’s place , this is something done entirely within the exchange building,  and from the customer point of view, nothing of consequence changes in their home , same telephone sockets , same phone instrument, the only possible difference is the nation number needs to be used on local calls as well as national calls , so the STD code and phone number has  to be used ,  but many areas do that already on the PSTN .
