In order to try & rectify the device linking problems I did a factory reset & the SH2 did return to it's out-of-the-box settings.
However, since then I have tried to do further factory resets but it hasn't reverted to it's out-of-the-box settings insomuch as the WiFi SSID & password don't revert.
What I'm attempting to do, with zero success, is to get the SH2 to link with the devices should the mesh system ever fails.
It's no more than a minor irritation & does not detract from my overall satisfaction of switching to BT Full Fibre.

you have to hold recessed button for 20/30 secs until you see the hub lights flash. any sooner and it is just a reset

No direct experience of the SH2 but I've found previous Hubs are a bit stubborn to reset. With most devices, simply pressing the button for a few seconds causes the device to reset. With BT Hubs it seems to be much longer. The reset also seems to be ineffective while the Hub is booting. So my suggestion would be to power cycle, wait for boot to complete & then press & hold the reset until the LEDs start to flash.

30 seconds it was & it seems longer when you're pressing the button with a paperclip. Lol.

The SH2 did go back to it's default settings & all the devices correctly lost contact but, once again, when I changed the SSID & password to those used by the mesh system the devices didn't attempt to connect to the SH2 but they all connected when I activated the mesh system.
Although I did say it wasn't a major issue, it would be if the mesh system failed so I've bought a Tenda M12 triple band mesh system with 3 nodes which I'll install tomorrow when it arrives & keep the M3 system as a spare.
