BT Smart Hub (type A) IP Addresses

We have FTTP and a BT Smart Hub (type A) connected to a network switch that has 3  WAPs connected to it in our busy Community Centre. Unfortunately it regularly runs out of IP addresses and prevents new arrivals from connecting. We have the IP refresh rate set to 3 hrs. What is the best way to increase our pool of IP addresses? I think that currently we see problems if more than approx. 30 IP addresses are allocated.

Thanks

Re: BT Smart Hub (type A) IP Addresses

Its a known problem with BT hubs, they don't release addresses. MAC randomisation of devices these days doesn't help matters either. Other than factory resetting the hub periodically there is little you can do other than replace it with a third party router.

Edit: if you don't want to use a third party router, you could always configure a Raspberry Pi as a DHCP server and disable the the Hub server.

Is this a residential account or business account?

The business forum is here if it is a business account you have.
