Have you tried changing the channel?
I've just had the opportunity to have a little play with my (usually boxed) BT SH2, and compare it with my Asus GT-AX6000. The far from scientific observations suggest that the SH2 is more directional than the GT-AX6000. From directly in front and behind the SH2 gives the GT-AX6000 a good run for it's money on signal strength. It's only when you are not on the same level, or more than about 50 degrees off to one side that the SH2 drops off in signal strength.
*In performance terms, the SH2 did struggle with the sheer number of clients (24 clients) on 2.4GHz with the tool used reporting 56% utilization on the band, compared with17% on the GT-AX6000.
**I've a security camera, that for some unknown reason has its single, tiny, internal antenna positioned horizontally, and points in just about as far away from ideal as is possible - this has an effect on it's signal, and similar issues with portable devices can cause that very same issue!
Hi @licquorice and thanks for the suggestion.
I've tried different channels and although at first I thought it was better, it was not. Plenty of good strong signals at the end of my garden - just not mine!
WiFi is more black art than science.
You could try calling customer services and see if they will provide a replacement in case it is a faulty hub.
