As a BT customer for years, having come to the end of my contract, I was forced to get Digital Voice and a new 'Smart Hub'. I followed the setup meticulously and my old landline works. However, I see that my broadband connection always shows as EE, and every time I wish to connect to my BT Smart Hub, I have to put in the password, even though I have Windows set automatically. This is a real pain.
Please will someone tell me how I can change this so that I get the BT connection automatically (not least so many other things are connected to it). (The connection button on the Hub doesn't work with other devices either - except for the wretched EE connection gizmo .)
With much respect to you, you weren’t ‘forced’ into doing anything. DV has replaced the old analogue telephony system and so in order for you to continue to have a working landline, the change is necessary, hence why you now have a new Smart Hub2.
I suppose the next question is, are you still a BT customer? or have you been migrated to EE? Customers have stated that during contract renewal, they’ve been shifted off BT’s customer books onto EE.
I take your 'respect' point, Kimberlin. And of course, I do understand about the shift to Digital Voice. What annoys me is the necessity for yet another piece of cluttering stuff on my desk or elsewhere - but that is a minor point.
As my bills still arrive from BT, it appears that I am still a BT customer. And that's why I would very much like an answer to my question. I'm sure you must understand how irritating it is to have to fill in my password from the Smart Hub every time I wish to log in.
There's no extra piece of kit, you have simply replaced one hub with another
I presume you are talking about WiFi connection to the hub rather than the management interface.
The problem is with your device, not the hub.
'Forget' the connection and set it up again.
I suspect the OP is seeing the ‘EE’ SSID’s broadcast by the BT router and weirdly chosing to connect to those rather that the BT SSID of the new BT router , and clearly if it’s a new router the OP needs to chose that WiFi network and enter the appropriate log on credentials for the new router on his wireless devices, as presumably the old router is being disposed off or being returned….seems to me to be a case of customer mis operation
You could well be right.
