last night my BT hub stopped wifi ing and could not connect even though it was 'blue', now laptop happy to connect to EE wifi but PC still connecting to the BT hub wifi , some guidance to this very long standing BT customer ( like 40 y ) would be helpful please.
To clarify, do you have two routers, (BT and EE hubs), connected and powered up at the same time?
If so, (why?), have you checked that they both have different WiFi SSIDs set and are on different WiFi channels?
.
are you connecting laptop to the free BTWIFI and not your hub SSID and home wifi? if so the BTWIFI has been superseded by EEWIFI and you need to log in to that and not the defunct BTWIFI
Paul 'expert' Not two routers, no : -) EE wifi , is open to connections EE connection just asks to provide a BT logon . seems either is available , not sure a house near nah or an EE hot spot ? signal is as good as the BThub on my desk ...My guess this the future when LL copper is cut off ?
I have no idea why you are connecting to that network rather than your home network.
Good morning @oldles, thanks for reaching out to us about this!
As a few of the other guys have mentioned here, the EE WiFi you'll see listed here will be a public WiFi network, and shouldn't have any link to your BT Connection.
The one you need to be connecting to is the network listed on the slider that's attached to your Hub, unless you've opted to change this.
If you're still struggling after checking all of these details, I'd recommend giving our line checker a try, which will guide you through some handy steps for getting reconnected.
If needs be we can help get you an engineer appointment or call back from our team once this is complete too.

Thank you Peter , having worked in IT support myself , I understand your offer of help. i should clarify what happened last week, i was watching youtube about 10pm , when the BThub 5 ( actually a hub 6 but OR guy set it like that to save changing things when he swapped it out for a faulty 5 ) anyway it went red, and green and orange etc etc...i restarted my linux laptop. but no bthub5 was available.... its blue light lied ! BUT EE wifi was waiting for me to connect, no security needed , just my BT login , so I did and it all worked fine , signal was same if not better than the BThub ..
Now i am back connecting to BThub5 (6) , BT have said the LL phones and presumably broadband ( copper , in my case plus alimium ) will cease soon ? . so I guess the EE network will take over .. maybe ..
@oldles Thanks for clarifying and glad to hear your home broadband connection is working fine again. The public EE WiFi is a benefit you get free as a BT Broadband customer, unless you specifically opt out you will be automatically registered and all you need to do as you found it is login with your BTID account details.
The dedicated website has more information including where hotspots are available, it can be handy to use when you are out and about or like yourself if you have one close by home and you have some connection issues. EE WiFi hotspots | Find WiFi hotspots | EE WiFi
